How to get out of the shyte

“The science of getting rich“

So, it’s been a while since I last posted.

A long while.

There’s reason for this – always is a reason :). My life’s turned upside down when I “suddenly” decided from one  week to the next to stop what I had been doing up until then for the last 2 years – career wise that is. I’ve come to the point where I suddenly realized that what was hitting my fan the whole time was shyte. Big time shyte. And up until then I hadn’t realized it’s shyte, I had understood it to be the side effect of what’s happening when you’re busy building a business, a huge one, bordering on an empire. So in a way you could say while I did see it coming, I didn’t think it’s going to look, taste and smell as ugly as it actually does.

Bottomline, the hole’s deep, dark and an utterly disgusting place overall. I don’t wish my worst enemy to be ending up in there. Add to that a sprinkle of self-pity, well ok, a bucket load of same and you’ve got the perfect making of a disaster. No income, funds gone up in smoke, sick child, no family nearby, a handful of friends who’re busy digging their own holes, no personal life whatsoever and a long list of people who first and foremost want some money and threaten you with all kinds of things.

Ok so you get the picture. Sound familiar? Read on, might find some solutions of your own.

What is one to do? First, breathe. Second ask for help. Do the surrender thing, it works. Go on your knees and surrender.

Then list 5, no hang on, in a dramatic situation like that make that 10 things you’re grateful for. If it’s really bad that act could take a whole day. That’s ok. Just don’t stop until you have all 10. And it might be something like “thankful my body has not yet forgotten how to breathe in and do the whole oxygen to blood cells etc thing”. If you’re battling with depression (that’s that self-pity trap thing) this is extremely vital to do and extremely difficult. Yes I know, push through, you can do this.

And then it’s time to dig a bit deeper. I was in shocking despair a very short while ago (and dip in again every now and then) lamenting the fact that I’ve run out of resources and what is one to do without resources?! That’s when I came across Tony Robbins. Not the first time of course, I’ve heard of him before, will one day for sure do training with him but never really read a book of his. Mainly just heard others talk about him. Long story short, he had tweeted something a couple days earlier which I thought perhaps was a good idea for me to watch. A video.

Call it a life changing moment. Thanks Tony.

One of the things that stood out in the many videos I subsequently watched of his and podcasts listened to (all free) was this one sentence: “You don’t have to have all the resources. You’ve just got to be very resourceful.” Bang, that hit home. Because you see, if I have one thing then it is the ability to be resourceful. I’m practically an idea machine! I can churn them out in no time. And we all are, one way or another, to a bigger or lesser degree, aren’t you? 🙂

And then I realized there are SO many other people out there, all the good souls whose purpose it is to help mortals like myself to turn around, to become better to find a way. Only they need to pay rent too of course hence they also can’t offer their services for free. And why should they. But what good is that if you’ve got nothing left, i.e. resource no. 1 is missing – moolahs. So in comes the resourcefulness, instead of lamenting about the fact that I didn’t have money to go on all these great programs and enlist 5 different coaches – and let’s face it, I know I and everybody else can achieve miracles with that kind of support – so instead of whining one too many times I finally realized there’s another way.

All of these fantastic beings, like Tony Robbins have free offerings. And it is always something that is of real great use. For instance check Fabeku Fatunmise out. Yeah I know, funny name. Ok so once you got past that and realized it’s ok to have a name like that and look like a normal American and do some crazy stuff with drums and bowls and things you’ll discover a gem. A total and utter gem. Fabeku is into sound stuff, so go ahead and check him out. And he has this 10 min free download on his site. I grabbed it with both arms I think about 2 months ago. And then things started to shift. From the free track already!

I keep going back to it over and over again, it’s fantastic. I then found that he had another program on there at a very, very reasonable price, the Inner Spring Cleaning one. I got myself that, can’t live without it anymore. 🙂 And he’s been so kind to give me some more pointers of things one can do when that flying shyte’s coming your way and you just can’t book him yet. I’m sure he’s ok if I share it with you here too. It’s seriously helpful!! So here are a couple of real helpers:

  • Do the AHHHH thing. It’s super effective at helping to deal with the overwhelm and to make some breathing room in our heart.
  • Then make sure what’s coming at ya fits your size. Yeah, sad to admit finally, after reading this post, Biggie size it, I realize, size does matter.
  • And here’s a real gem of a gem, the explanation why affirmations don’t work, because it’s real hard to bullshit yourself, Positive thinking minus the ‘Roids
  • Finally there’s the story bit, you know, we all have a story to tell, by gawd we do! So, change the record, here’s how.

So back to the free thing. I’ve heard SO many people whine about yeah it’s free but they are selling you something that’s why it’s free. I’ve been buying into this notion for too long myself, until I realized that’s why I have not yet achieved true wealth. BULLSHIT ALERT. Of course they are going to sell you something BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN THAT THIS IS A BAD THING.

Phew, let me repeat this. Just because somebody gives you a taste of their ware for free it doesn’t mean they’re only doing it to con you. That’s a CRAP LITTLE VOICE talking to you, keeping you from achieving true greatness. How else are people going to convince you that what they offer could help you, is good for you, fill in the blanks, if they don’t let you try it for free? Nobody is going to force you in the end to buy from them!

And nobody did. I’ve been on a crusade in the last 3 weeks of finding and using every free teleclass, download, testdrive, etc I could lay my hands on that I thought could be of value to me. Wow, what treasures did I find! And not one, I repeat, NOT ONE conned me into something I didn’t want or need. All of them were genuine. Perhaps that’s because I know what I’m looking for and don’t go to shady websites, that could well be. I’m not saying there are no tricksters out there, sure there are, but if you don’t recognize the shady from the genuine then I say you deserve to get some experience by learning the hard way. I say, google before you buy. Saved me a lot of trouble and money already.

Hey, by the way, if you wanna check out my own freebie hop over here. It’s a 1 hour teleclass going over the values of an entrepreneur focus circle and 20 key strategies to improve your business performance. So if you’ve got a little business running (it’s aimed at the solopreneur kind of businesses) make sure you don’t miss that. I too  am going to give you incredible value and information over an hour while hoping it will make you wanting more. 🙂

On my crusade I’ve also found many of those make money online things and I’ve checked many out. Some are actually genuine, some are fraudsters. I’ve realized, with a bit of time and some research, I can do this myself very well and there are genuine, good products out there. So I figured I’m going to start recommending products and services that I think are genuine and of service to others. Not that I can guarantee that because I really do not know what is good for one and what is not, heck I don’t even know that for myself half the time! But I do believe I’ve become pretty good in detecting a shady thing and won’t recommend that. So, hence forward I shall start recommending products and services that if somebody ends up buying them give me a little kick back. And I really don’t see anything wrong with that at all as long as I do it from the genuine purpose of bringing good stuff to good people. If I get it wrong please tell me immediately!

So far I’ve dug up one product that I believe has total merit, based on that fact that I love, love, love the book on which this whole course is based. It’s called THE SCIENCE OF GETTING RICH and while some people might freak out at some of the things he says (written 100 years ago mind you….), it’s a jewel. In fact it’s the basis upon many other books were written. Once you’ve read the book you’ll realize that. Many authors have taken some or all or just one of those ideas and repurposed it in another format. So here’s the source of most self help books out there. This one’s even older than THINK AND GROW RICH by Napoleon Hill. The course is backed by 3 very known “gurus” in the personal development arena and thus I believe this is a good product to recommend. Check it out here. It’s a pity reading a book alone doesn’t change things! But it just goes to show, just by knowing something doesn’t mean we actually apply it. There’s more to us than just having information. That’s why courses are so important and necessary if we want to get ahead on this path of growth.

In closing I hope I’ve given you some pointers and ideas of what to do when it’s really bad and want to leave you with one thought: We can do this. You and I, we both can do this. No matter what is coming our way, we can overcome it. Never ever ever lose the believe of that. I’ve questioned it recently, I stopped, thank goodness. We can overcome anything, we always can.

Well Done! Bettina. I would first of all like to applaud you for finally deciding that you can overcome this. I agree with you those three books and free items that is available on the web is great. It is the start, and yes we have serious CRAP LITTLE VOICES about things that are for free. What is wrong with us that we think that the minute something is for free there will be…must be a catch to it. Maybe it is just a way of building trust and making sure that you feel comfortable with the program/coach etc.
I have also been in the Dark Hole, but was fortunate enough to meet a person , by the name of John Broom that with his quiet way and amazing products have helped me find my way again. Yes, my name is Anthea not Alice but I am back. John introduced me to his Subliminal and Paraliminals. I was desperate and started using them. WHOW!!!
I am also passionate about making a difference in business owners or peoples life’s. I also believe that once the focus has shifted away from Money and we do what we are passionate about, we will achieve results. Yeah, a few months ago I would have buffed at that, but it was my beliefs that were holding me back instead of allowing me to achieve.
Thanks to the Tony Robbins , the John Brooms, the Paul Scheele, the Blair Singers and the Bettina’s of the world we will bounce out of the dark hole much sooner and with more energy and drive, to do what we must do….
Sometimes we need to learn what we need to teach…..

What an honest piece of work Bettina! I absolutely love it! I can ‘feel’ YOU in here. This is the kind of writing that connects with me. Bravo for baring it all so bravely. I am certain it will connect with others as it has with me.

Glad you have found it in you to ‘come out’ of the dumps. I believe everything works out for our benefit whether we perceive it as negative or positive at the time. We have the choice to either wait for time to show us where the lessons and benefits in a situation were or we can look for them, there and then, even in the toughest of times, and find them and be grateful. Yes indeed 10 things to be grateful for can be hard sometimes. LOL! But we can always find them when we look hard enough… mostly it is the simple things just as breathing like you rightly put that seem so small but yet are so worthy of gratitude.

Thank you for sharing a piece of Bettina with us. Much appreciated.

By the way, I saw your facebook status the other day that said “I wish I would know what exactly it is that I am doing wrong. Since nothing I do works out it must be kinda obvious. Please send me a message if you have an answer. I am desperately looking for it.”… I didnt get a chance to reply then because I couldnt think of anything to say.

But now that I have read this article, I can say to you that for me, if there was anything “missing” then it would be this very ‘connection’ and ‘realness’ that has come through so well in this article.

I guess that already is 1 ‘benefit’ of the ‘shyte’ you were going through. It has given us, your readers, a chance to connect with you at another level.

    Keep it coming

Thank you for sharing this with me via twitter, this is EXACTLY what I was looking for! It’s a beautiful exploration of your mindset shift as to why it’s beneficial to pay people for the value they provide. I agree that it’s going to be very difficult to anyone to grow wealth themselves thinking that anyone who sells is a con artist!

Thanks Laura!!!! I’m happy to report that I’m already in a much better space thanks to all the free goodies I’ve been accumulating (from you too!). I have a folder with all those beautiful people whose free content I used to get out of it and one by one I will buy their services as soon as I can.
People down in the hole must stop complaining and start looking for options. I wrote this post in sheer desperation for myself as a reminder. It’s worked like a charm for that. Excuses are always at the ready – it’s finding away around whatever the obstacle is that counts.
